Drums

Drums

A Poem by Amanda Naomi

I experience rather than hear
The steady beat of the drum
Passing from your veins to mine
Through the walls upon which I lay
Your giant hands holding my fragile body
One gently placed on my back
I rise and fall by your will
Up and down, both of us fast asleep
I find safety only in your love
The rise and fall
The rhythmic DRUM-DRUM
