Life

A Poem by Mariah Corey

My body is far from all warmth. darkness greets me with open arms, but I am unable to go. I plead, but he turns his head. His righteous eyes show no pity, I am a slave to my master's will. For I am a vessel without a host. My body dragged on and on, it will end until my work is done in this world.

The darkness tells me, once I have finished my master's work. His whip stings my soul, though it may hurt; I know that soon i can join the darkness in eternal peace. Until then, I must endure my punishment until the very end.
