Adulthood

Adulthood

A Poem by Mark D

At our childhood stream that once dwarfed the ocean, I find the banks collapsing on it's quiet side.

Beautiful. Used exactly as many words as you needed to.

It is beautifully written. It gives an inevitable message that adulthood surpasses childhood in terms of time and social responsibility. The metaphorical use of words in so curt a line is remarkable. It reminds me of Frost's poem 'Stopping By Woods In A Snowy Evening' and its line-

"The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep."

This is the kind of single sentences I'd like to be able to write.

Wow... one sentence but it's... loud. Bold. I like it!
