Heart Aches

Heart Aches

A Poem by Dave

Heart Aches

When my heart aches will she be there to ease the pain?
Will she look for the smile that is gone and isn't to be found.
I think not, she took the happiness she shared along with her
She buried me in the darkness of loneliness, afraid, unloved.

To hold her once more, feel her softness, warmth next to me,
Her hand in mine as we walk unafraid life's path together
The brightness of her smile, the glow of her hair on my pillow
Oneness so complete there was no more to ask for.

I wonder what I said, what I did to chase her so far away.
I look for her hoping that wherever I look she will be there.
Would she see the smile I wear only for her, would she care?
Could I possibly find happiness in seeing her smile again?

Letting go of the one you love is a unbearable pain.the pain you feel in your heart is regret.but time covers all wounds.sharing this with strangers is not easy.writing this took courage. Thank you

Your poem is very poignant, and I can feel the heart ache! But I think, when we lose someone from our life we should try to dwell on the good memories, rather than the pain of loss. I am a fine one to speak though, my heart still aches for several people who have gone out of my life!!!!

God must've used his strongest magic to make man care so much for a woman. This poem is certainly an example of that.

This is one of my favorite poems on WritersCafe. This brought me to tears as I feel your pain through your words. I tend to love so hard I chase them away as well, and I don’t even see it happening! Thank you so much for sharing this poem Dave, I shall add it to my favorites!
