Chapter Five: Hopelessly Lost in the Fire and FlamesA Chapter by The Master of FrightJack and Jordan are lost in the woods, and not finding a way out. Will they escape? Or will they die in the woods? You'll have to read Chapter 5 to find out.
It's official; this "Escape the Woods" plan sucks. We've been walking and walking. We can't find the way out. It's hopeless. But still we search on with some naive hope that we'll escape. Are we going in circles? I have no idea. Why'd I have to stop? It's my fault.
"Dude, moping won't help". Jordan commented, as if he knew what I was thinking. "We've gotta get out of here." I knew he was right. But I also knew that this was hopeless. The walk was boring. There was nothing to stare at but, trees, trees, and more trees. Anticipation was boiling up inside me, like a volcano ready to explode. I become more and more doubtful with every passing second. If we didn't make it out tonight, what did we eat? We had no weapons to kill anything, and I certainly was no "Jungle Boy." "So, Jordan." I calmly said. "What do you thin-" Jordan interrupted me. He fell to the ground in grimacing pain. He screamed awfully, like he had been cut in half by a saw blade. I held my ears to take away some of the noise. "Jor-" I began, but couldn't finish. I fell to the ground as well. Pain shot up my body, like my rib cage was fallen apart. My heart was beating insanely fast, and I was sweating like crazy. I looked over at Jordan, who was doing the same. My head felt as if it was being beaten in with a hammer. I looked up as best I could. My vision was going blurry, as if I was looking through a pane of frosted Winter glass. I was in extreme agony. I yelled, as if it would make me feel better. Then, my body went limp, but I started floating. But not above the forest floor. Just black. It was if the dirt had disappeared, but I didn't fall. It's really tough to explain. It was the equivalent to limbo. Nothing was happening. Then I started to wonder. Did I die? Was I going to Hell? No, because I was a Christian. I believed in God, therefore I would go to heaven. I recalled the verses in my head. Romans 10:9- That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord, " and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Hebrews 9:28- So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him. John 10:9- I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture. So, that's out. What was going on? Then the colors came. Vivid reds, yellows, blue, purples, greens, whites, and blacks. They swirled around me, like a big bowl of Trix. They blended together, as if psychedelically. The colors were quite pretty. It was like fireworks, without the booms. I wondered if Jordan was experiencing the same thing. However, flames rose, and engulfed the colors. They grew higher and higher. The heat was insane. "The world's biggest campfire." I said aloud. But the flames kept growing. They surrounding me, and were swallowing me like the colors. They were suffocating me. I couldn't breathe. The smoke entering my lungs was cutting off my air supply. I was choking. "Hhhheeeelllppp." I wheezed. My eyes started to close, when I saw bright red everywhere. I didn't feel burned from the flames, however. Just suffocated. Then I fell. Down, down, down. What was happening? I think I was falling on my back. I flipped around to see dirt coming in fast. I braced myself for the impact. And then I hit. A frenzy of things flashed through my mind. I couldn't control it. It was spiraling out of control. But one thing kept repeating. "KILL, KILL, KILL." In my mind over and over again. Everything was pitch black; I couldn't see a thing. I felt epileptic. My entire body was shaking and shuddering uncontrollably. I felt drool in the corner of my mouth. I was being carried on something. Like a gurney. But I had no way of knowing. Minutes passed. I heard strange mechanical noises, and people shouting awfully in every direction. But I had no emotion. It was like my soul had been taken away. Finally, the girder stopped moving. I sat, waiting in anticipation. I felt the time go by. Every second I became more nervous. "All right, here we go." a strange voice said raspily. It was evil and gruff. Like a demonic biker/wrestler. Not a guy you want to mess with. I heard a strange pop. Pain shot through me, but it was minor compared to what I had been through. It felt as if thousands of tiny needles were stabbing my brain. Like a headache, except 10 times worse. What happened next shocked me. © 2010 The Master of FrightAuthor's Note
