These Girls

These Girls

A Poem by Matthew Ian Herrawood W
"

This a poem about my female freinds. They suffer a pain that if i had made clear this poem would be rated for Adults. I think this happens more than we relise. but what can we do except listen?

"

These Girls

These girls that surround me

Pain fills their lives

Help is what they need

Help I want to offer

Help I cannot give

These girls that surround me

They’ve done nothing wrong

Pain they experience

Pain is forced on them

Pain they cannot escape

These girls that surround me

That I cannot help

Pain they feel

Pain I want to share

Pain that I cannot possibly imagine

(possible last verse)

These Girls in my life

My friends

My family

My love

Sounds almost like a cursed existence, by extension & expansion could translate into a vampiric or werewolf type of narrative depiction, or even another poem. Who knows? I am sorry for them though.

These days I tend to forget about their pain & how it ails them. When I was growing up there were like a dozen females in the house & it was part of our joined existence. Now that I live independently, I hardly ever have to be around when that happens.

Your compassion & concern rings clear & sincere throughout the poem, & you wrote it with great delicacy, without a trace of derision or mockery or scorn. Uplifting & with great respect & compassion. In fact, quite sensitive & mature approach.

Thank you for sharing.

You are most welcome, Matt. I guess your poem had its way with me, thus the lengthy response.

The 3 verses are almost the same though stated differently. LOL
Indeed, when someone asks our help but we can do nothing to help him/her, it's so heartbreaking.

I'm a woman, and I was moved by the concept of this poem.
