Hope And Tragedy

Hope And Tragedy

A Poem by Mavis Bard

Embrace my kiss
Dry your eyes
Don’t be afraid
To say goodbye
Dream with me
Of a love so chaste
Of a beauty so pure
Of a saving grace

I found you alone
With a bleeding heart
I bid you my love
And all it imparts
Remove those fears
Unveil your soul
A fool’s disguise
Conceals a heart of gold

Summer dies
It’s all the same
We’ll lose ourselves
In that same old game
Clean the slate
To erase your pain
Fall arrives
We all must change
Someday

No words to say
No songs to sing
Only painful cries
With tears to bring
Your eyes behold
The mess you’ve made
But it’s over now
It’ll be okay

Summer dies
It’s all the same
We’ll lose ourselves
In that same old game
Clean the slate
To erase your pain
Fall arrives
We all must change

Promise me
You’ll always believe
The song of hope
And tragedy
Through you I
Hear the heavens cry
Just want you to know
Came to say goodbye
