Brain Scratch

Brain Scratch

A Poem by Mavis Bard

The glasses turn, the tables collide
And all I wanted was some moonshine
It’s amazing that we love the things we hate
I’m hand-selected, honored-high
With a reverend’s approval by my side
We only try to please ourselves each and every day

Leave me be

There’s only one more round
You won’t leave without a scratch

I take this cup on behalf of my new wings
Another swimming bird and I’ll be living free

In a burning rage I lunge for the door
Concerning eyes I ignore
And all I see is a sea of corned beef stew
With a hole in my liver and my lung on the floor
I understand now more and more
I have a running tab unpaid and overdue

Leave me be

There’s only one more round
You won’t leave without a scratch

'I take this cup on behalf of my new wings

I need to use that as a toast next time I feel like drinking my face off.

My favorite lines are
'With a hole in my liver and my lung on the floor
I understand now more and more
I have a running tab unpaid and overdue'
Great images. Great metaphors

There's always only one more round, eh?

Awesome lyrics. I'd like to hear the music for this.
