Chapter 4

Eric's point of view, Akiza has another vision and this time Eric joins her, and sees the memory of how her life burned up.

Chapter 4

Erik

I saw her staring forwards and I tried looking where she was looking, but saw nothing except for a few innocent kids playing around on the monkey bars. I looked back at her and realized she was having a vision. So I blocked her with my body and tried to feel what she was thinking, when I was pulled in her world.

 

I woke up in a gray, misty place with no way out. I sat up and tried to see where I was. Then I remembered that I was in Akiza’s mind. I stood up and heard her voice, so I ran in her direction.            I found myself in a long hallway with doors on either side; I heard her voice farther down the hall. I ran toward it, but the hallway seemed to never end.   As I ran past doors, I heard different sounds… A child screaming, a women singing, and a fire crackling… It also felt very warm suddenly. I looked at the door beside me, I couldn’t resist peeking.      I opened the door and the scene played out in front of me. I saw a huge fire, a very young Akiza ran out of the house. She was sobbing miserably, and one of the firefighters immediately took her in his arms and wrapped a damp towel around her. I saw two gurneys being carried into an ambulance, and saw Akiza struggle to run towards it, but the firefighter restrained her. I realized these were her parents.            Then I was led into another memory. I saw Akiza lighting a match and touching it to a candle. Then she put out the match and threw it away. I realized she was inside a stable. Then her parents called her, and she walked away. Then I saw the candle slowly topple, as if in slow motion. Then the hay caught on fire, and her house, her family, and her dreams went up in the smothering smoke.          Then an invisible force grabbed me and tossed me out of the memory, back into the real world.

WOW. It sort of reminds me of Eragon and how people can go into others' minds and see their memories and thoughts. Awesome, really great chapter.
