Itinerant Holocaust

Itinerant Holocaust

A Poem by Maxwell Ryder

Dogs bark,
Charge and yelp;
An unknown
Gypsy caravan
Passes by
Racism
Slumbering
In its village;
They play music
To pacify
Stars above,
Winking at
Their itinerant
Holocaust;
Conestogas
Set aflame
Like Chinese
Lanterns set
Adrift upon
the charred
firmament
of pogroms
and dead stars.
