I can’t compete with God

I can’t compete with God

A Poem by Maxwell Ryder

I never felt like a failure
Till I met my son, coming
To meet the world
From his mother’s womb.
Did God feel the same
About Jesus,
when He delivered him from
Mary, or did He give him
all the weapons of wisdom,
To survive forty desert nights
Just so His Father who art
In heaven, hallowed be Thy name,
Would send him
Knowingly to a crucifixion?
If so, I can’t compete with God.

This message kinda twists my guts around. First, I'm in a moment of bliss as you rather bluntly describe your son's birth (parenting being something I've never been able to do in life). Then we hit a sharp turn into your God/Jesus screed that seems like a sarcastic rebuke, or it could be just stating facts. Not having a parent's perspective, I can't imagine the death of a child, at the same time I have a fatalistic view of death (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

God probably knew what was waiting at the end of His sons journey!
Every parent only hopes and wishes a brilliant future for his offspring.
