Recidivists

Recidivists

A Poem by Maxwell Ryder

They wait on him,
and wait,
and wait,
waiting every day,
as he promised
he’d descend;
But hundreds of him
are born
every day in
Mexico,
and no one
ever bothers
to go there
and meet those men;
Recidivists
keep looking
for him
in some cave
outside Jerusalem,
or under
that shroud in Turin.
