Since when...

Since when...

A Poem by Maxwell Ryder

Since when can you get rid of hate;
Since when can you eradicate or even legislate it away,
back into the minds from which it came?
People hate their jobs, the weather, romance movies, cats or dogs;
Big government, little government, no government;
And other people, especially those who are fake or just a little odd.
There’s no way in Hades you can tame people’s abhorrent prejudices,
Donald Trump, it’s not a realistic aim.
It will lead to half of humanity locked up,
Which isn’t the failure of God,
But Mankind’s laws!
Yes, you can try and kill it with love,
But it won’t die in a jail cell or looking down a barrel -
It’ll just stay bottled up.
And don’t be so ignorant to think it comes from a mother’s milk or daddy’s ilk -
that’s just another spiderweb made of silk.
Propaganda is always the smoking gun that kills!
