My name

My name

A Poem by Maxwell Ryder

When I hear my name
I don’t recognize it anymore,
For it is laced
With spite, disdain,
Anger, pain,
Or not even said, at all.
It was once musical.
It speaks in broken bargains
I did not break.

The meaning of a name. I wonder do names make us who we are, what we can be?
"or it is laced
With spite, disdain,
Anger, pain, "
I understand the above lines. Thank you Maxwell for sharing the amazing poetry.

Wow, this poem just hangs in the air. You can feel the repetition self-blame. A dark and lonely place to be, masterfully expressed.

Thank you. Indeed, it is lonely here. And to think how my name was said was that solace.
I think most people could relate to your poem. As being disliked or hated really affects you mentally, yet physically, and drains you. Hope you feel better real soon.

A few years back I was going through a pretty tough time on the marriage front and your poem, as written, describes how I felt in every way. I have been hated from time to time by a lot of people, but in that moment you describe is a pretty low place to be. Thanks for the memories, pal!! LOL I like the intensity of this work. I could feel the emotion at the very core. It's good write on bad. CD
