Necromancer

Necromancer

A Poem by Maxwell Ryder

Watching a spider
Trundle a bundle
Across its spindles,
Mummies surf
her hinterwebs,
Silkened chocolate
chips decorate
Charlotte’s menagerie
of debris on threads
The necromancer
Hangs another charm
In her pavilion of death.

This is delicious spider-ness! You took the spider to a whole new level of delightfulness! I hate spiders, but your poem makes me want to watch them & play with them. I love the hints of Charlotte's Web, a favorite for eons. I love the title word, so friggin' creative! And "trundle a bundle" might be the best word crafting all month (but this is only the 3rd!) You feel like a great dad & I bet you are so fun to play with! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Great imagery here! I also like how you used "Charlotte," the beloved kid's book character, and then compared her to a necromancer. Definitely going to be rethinking that aspect of my childhood now. Comparing the flies to chocolate chips was also inspired, I guess some fat juicy insects would be equivalent to a warm cookie for an arachnid.
