Gambler, Rambler...

Gambler, Rambler...

A Poem by Mayank
"

To all those who turned rags from riches, while they always thought they control our economy but were choked at the time modern cholera, I call it Recession.

"

Steps moving forward

In the jungle made up of concrete,

The bell rings, fight begins

Here comes the bull, rumbling in your pit.

Speculators eyes are glued on flat screen

Watching the numbers, ferociously.

Boiler room filled with smoke and tea,

Today’s exclusive tip, sweat dripping anxiety…

Is this the right time?

The speculators wonder,

Opinionated leaders, commissioned dealers

Our very own confused news channel anchor.

They all are clueless, choking in the grip of a bear.

Then someone yelled the curse,

Yes, they have done it again!

There goes the epidemic wiping our pocket clean,

Brother’s dies, Morgan’s grieving…

The economy is stroked, currency on prosthetic.

The billionaires are firing orders,

They don’t need anyone,

They are motionless, cold as corpse.

“Show is over” Pessimist’s death note,

“Time to turn visionary!” churning in the mind of leaders.

This jungle is the necessity for human survival,

The day will come when confident will revive,

Few more debts will be added in India’s fiscal bible.

Then spring will welcome you again at Dalal Street*,

With new instinct, ball gripping tips, numerical greed.

The market will buzz old speeches and new rants,

Mr. Investor Banker, will be back

With the slavery tie knotted perfectly on his neck.

really definitive portrayal of the financial realities of the crisis, I've never seen anyone take up this topic, now that I think it is just as sensitive a matter as the other emotions we write about. We all bled into the crisis in one way or the other. cheers for the brilliant write mayank. great work

Wow, this take me back to the financial crisis in 07/08. Mortgages were underwritten with too low variable interest rates that families really couldn't afford when the rate went up loans defaulted. Banks lost money because the made bad investment choices with the mortgage dollars. It was like a bad case of the domino effect. Sad time for a lot of people.

Actually it's inspired from that phase, 07-09 was the real bad phase.

Yes, indeed it was!
“Show is over” Pessimist’s death note,
“Time to turn visionary!” churning in the mind of leaders.

The problem at the moment is that economy is set up for the benefit of those at the top … need to see a growing middle class and few less billionaires if you ask me. Great write here, Mayank.

Right. i guessed!
O yes!! Sarcasm drips from your veins as the investor banker knots his tie up.. lol :D. I liked this satiristic poem buddy. It is realistic, no cotton clouds or sunset but the stark reality of our crappy economy. Well done yaa.. this needs to be discussed in the budget session this year. Ofcourse we can't be marxist but hell if we give in to the autocracy.. indeed a powerful write. :)

I love the way you described such a tragic event like recession, poverty and dictatorship in the ways of like a boxing match as well as other amazing strategic metaphors. This was very well expressed. Thank you for sharing and keep up the good work.
