If?

If?

A Poem by Melanie Jane Boicourt Shanks

?
If all of our itches are scratched
and all of the locks are unlatched
and all of the knots are untied
and all of the tears have been cried
and all of the knowledge is gained
and all of the trainees are trained
and all that is broken is fixed
and all of the mixes are mixed
and all that is weighty is weighed
and all the material's made
and all of the seams have been sewn
and all we can see has been shown
and all that we wear is worn out
and we believe all that we doubt
and all of our paths are taken
and all those who rest awaken
and all that has taste is tasted
and all of the waste is wasted
and all the words have been spoken
and all that can break's been broken
and all we can feel has been felt
and all of the cards have been dealt
and all of the scents have been smelled
and all of the shouts have been yelled
and we hear all that we can hear
and we have feared all we can fear
and we've felt all the misery
and we've sensed all the sensory
and all has been separated
and all of the sides debated
and everything has been tried
and everyone is unified
and all the wrongs have been righted
and all divisions united
will we finally be at peace
or will we seek to find release?

brilliant write! all these things you come up with are impressive, I like the subtle lines and the almost obtrusive way the poem exposes itself upon the reader, it's like yelling in someone's face, asking all these questions. Very powerful, very intense!

(Thanks for all the reviewsabout my poetry, I appreciate so much!)

We would desire these things, but we must be content with peace
and seek to find release? Perfection cannot be achieved. We can however be content with whatever level we can attained.
