The missing socks.

The missing socks.

A Poem by Melanie Jane Boicourt Shanks
"

For a contest which required me to write about missing socks!! Imagine that!!

"

Colors

Collecting

But they're not connecting

They are lonely without a friend.

It’s so confusing

This game that I’m losing.

Will this pile ever find an end?

The monster that took them,

Is he going to cook them?

They say that he eats them all up

Why does he only take one?

Does he think that this is fun?

I guess I’ll give the others to my pup.

This is too cute. I like the flow to it. Thanks for entering it in my contest :)

Cute. A little too 'greeting card' for my taste (hate to put it that way, I mean, I HATE it when people review me with that phrase, but I have to be honest). It would be a great poem for a kid's book, which is probably what you intended. Sorry, I just realized all my reviews are sounding rather negative today...

I read throguh soem of your reviews, and I have to say that as a rule,
I either only buy one type of sock, so they will all match, or I just wear mismatched socks. It makes life more interesting when you have to explain to people how black and red match, or what frogs and stripes have in common :) best of luck and keep writing

You saw that contest too! This poem has great flow to it, nice pondering about what happens to those pesky missing socks, and a good resolution on what to do with the lonely left-behind sock. I especially like the structure you followed. (However, in my experience, the sock monster prefers the socks raw... lol)

and I've been blaming it on my kids all this time. . . I should have known it was a monster.

I solved this problem I wear boots and no one can see the difference. Another solution is wear identical pairs exclusively. That way you only have to grab two socks and go.
