Piles

Piles

A Poem by Melanie Jane Boicourt Shanks

Piles of bills lie unpaid on the table

Piles of bedclothes to make when you’re able

Piles of dishes are washed but not dried

Piles of crumbs on the stove where you fried

Piles of laundry you continue to shun

Piles of other things need to be done

Piles of reasons for putting off chores

Piles of reasons for locking all doors
