Closing out reality, imprisoned within

Crawling in corners to dream and pretend

Shutting out love and shutting out light

Just leave me alone in depression tonight

 

The darkness comes over me now and again

My hermit behaviors I cannot defend

My positive outlook on life needs a break

Just leave me alone so I won’t have to fake

I love how you manage to hit a nerve just about every time you write (that's a good thing). There's no pretense, just truth. I must say, the last line did remind me of a Linda Eder song... "I could slip on a brave face, but I simply refuse. Tonight I'll be romancin' the blues" Very well done.

leave me alone so i wont have to fake..that is beautifully stated..i think i may do this alot because i dont want to be rude so i might find myself faking a smile or something..but there are times that i just need some down time to myself just to take my mind off of everything..I like the end of the line rhyming also..lol you know i gotta mention that..because you do it so well..i enjoyed this one though..it has a real feeling to it..i think we may all have days like this where we just want to be left alone long enough to gather ourselves and face the world...i enjoyed the read..
