Empathy Misdirected

Empathy Misdirected

A Poem by Melanie Jane Boicourt Shanks
"

I am trying my heart out at free form. It does not come naturally.

"

Sympathetic apathy

breeding

sentimental disassociation.

Compassionate

unresponsiveness

causing empathy

misdirected.

Realistic needs rejected.

Spare change sent to far off lands

while our own children die of starvation
