"Restoration"

"Restoration"

A Poem by Melanie Jane Boicourt Shanks
"

Writen for a contest called "Dictionary Poetry These are the words that found me: restoration, podium, skilful and lodge

"

"Restoration"

I begin speaking.

I am fidgity behind the podium,

although I was skilful at writing the speach.

Words flowed from my pen with ease.

Now the words on the note cards are blurry.

My shaky hands revealing the fright that I hide.

My voice is stuck in my throat.

I am frozen in this spot

seeking my own restoration.

I doubt that I will be invited back

to give a speech at the lodge again.

This is fascinating! You used so much imagination and came up with a natural way of using the contest words. A job well done and this is most enjoyable!
