BUGS

BUGS

A Poem by Melanie Jane Boicourt Shanks
"

We're just bugs!

"

We’re just bugs, crawling on the earth,

taking up space and claiming our turf.

We take what we need and we use it in haste,

building our stuff and making our waste.

Very funny! I love the flow and rhythm to this poem. Great imagery and a wonderful parody. It's true that people are just like bugs, only bigger and more destructive. We're all simply greedy cockroaches taking what we want and showering the earth with our garbage... except, unlike cockroaches, we won't survive until the end of time (thankfully!). Wonderful piece. I really enjoyed it!

From a distance on high we would definitely resemble a colony of mindless, consuming insects. Nice write, you made a good job out of this rhyme scheme.

This was great! It really explains the uses of money by greedy people, and how they think about themselves before anyone else. We're really just shredding money, because we think it grows on trees! Awesome write!
