Yes, I Will Save You

Yes, I Will Save You

A Poem by Melissa Kester

Drowning would be better
It wouldn't hurt as much, that's true.

But drowning isn't better
Not at the cost of you

Yes, the fires would be better
They would swallow all the pain

But the fires are not better
Let's douse it out with rain

I know the trenches would be best
To sink and be forgotten

And yet the trenches are not best
For these battles to be fought in.

I know the darkness sounds appealing
I have been there once before

But, love, the darkness is not feeling
It will keep you ever more

So take my hand, I know it's frightening.
Let me help you to your feet.

And one day, it'll hit like lightening.
Once again, your heart will beat.

ok.....this is a gem! I absolutely loved the flow and the repetitions, the rhymes dance freely and aren't forced, and it paints a really powerful narrative. Much enjoyed this one! Well freaking done!
