Good Day

01/17/11

A ladybug, all tomato orange-red and life-blood,

Inspects some sandy brown shadows of a cat's footfalls

On the hood of a Chevy Impala, armor gray.

They must be satisfactory.

He flies away

Just missing a mongrel bird

Who may otherwise make a meal of him.

I nod my head

As the aphid tips its hat

Wishing all a good day.
