Dim the hazel

Dim the hazel

A Poem by Meraki

"Agg gg-gg guh guh tss!
Mmmmm-mmm!"

Sigh
"I shouldn't have left that club alone."
Visions of that night returning
As she stared vacantly into the babe's eyes

"Lucky you. I didn't have enough
for an abortion, you should be grateful.
I could've put you into foster care, you know."

He waved his tiny fist in excitement

"You don't even understand what I'm saying,"

Confusion tainted his small features
For the briefest of seconds
Only to be replaced with a gummy grin
Drool dribbling down his chin
Both feet kicking out in excitement

Staring into his hazel eyes
Violent memories of the attack assaulted her
She looked away

"I hate your eyes. They're just like his.
I bet you're going to grow up to look just like him, huh?"
Anger bubbled up inside her
She looked back inside those hazel eyes

He stared at her oblivious to the turmoil swirling inside her
He smiled
Rage marring her features

Why? Why me? I should've called for a cab that night.
Why are you smiling at me like that?
Are you laughing at me? Is that it? You're mocking me?!

He laughed

"Stop looking at me with those eyes!"
She screamed snatching him up
She shook him

He cried

"Shut up! Shut up shut up shut up! SHUT UP!"
He had stopped crying long before
...

I wonder what she felt

Author's Note

Meraki
This isn't made to make anyone look like the bad guy. Nor am I creating victims. I'm simply saying that we never truly know until something drastic happens until something undeniably changes. It's a cruel thing and I will not claim to understand this situation. I only wrote it.
