Ares

Ares

A Poem by Michael Iam Bone
"

This poem is about war.

"
War is never ending,
Peace is calm before the storm,
All human life depending
On how much it can deform.

What hope is there for man
If the ruin of our lands
Is all because us fools can
Not control our own two hands?

Every man that believes because
He knows it in his heart he's right,
That he alone's allowed to fight
Undoes his cause from what it was,

For conflict of the body will
Not satisfy the victor's lust,
Unless the fallen turn to dust
For it's the idea they must kill.

But that's the problem...
You can't kill an idea,
Only bury it with time,
That also means you can't kill war,
And so I decide instead to rhyme.

A very persuasive poem with an anthemic feel. As writers and readers we can all decide to rhyme.
