Less Seriously

Less Seriously

A Poem by Michael Jarrell

It's been 3vmonths
I'm finally on the rebound
From your last poison kiss
After all the s**t went down
Maybe this time I'll see it as just silly

He's a little less ripe
And a little less for sure
Texting mom permission at the hotel door
Maybe this time I'll take it a little less seriously

Because it's been three months
I'm finally on the rebound
I'm finally having fun
Without you around
So stay out of my head
And keep your friends out of my town

Although I may always love you
After the lies and deceit
Although it's been some hard months
I'm finally back on my feet
I'm with my rebound boy in my bed
But it's nothing sweet

Baby because it's been three months now
I've been to Vegas and la
I have learned so much
In all these fucked up ways
I won't let no one, no heart get in my way
I'm going to follow my dreams

He's got a swoosh like you and he's a wild card
The politics aren't there which make it a little hard
It's all fun and games, nothing to take seriously

A masterful expression of the aftershocks of relationships. Great job.

I can really relate to these feelings and you emit your pain and willingness to want to move on very well in this piece thank you for sharing

After committing your heart it is very difficult to get it back and it is never the same once you move on. It can be difficult to know who you are after receptivity. When to open up again is always the next question.

Nicely done! I love the poem, I can relate. not that I have been with another guy to forget someone, but I too have been hurt and went through pain. In the end, what's good about getting hurt, it is that you learn :)

Full of emotions, I like it.

A very good poem that has your emotions powering it in a very good way. I'm not gay, but I can appreciate what you are trying to convey here. Anyone who has had their heart broken can relate to the material. I've never been on a rebound where I would date someone else. I think that this poem is demonstrating that your healing inside.

very nice, its a place i think everyone hits at least once where the only way out is for no strings attached, pure pleasure which in itself can and feel wrong if your not really the "one night stand" type, however its sometimes still a necessary step in healing... well done.

Very nice, good rhyme scheme
Got some emotion, power, cockiness there
Sometimes it is hard to move on, but sometimes moving on in a not so serious way is best.
Great job
Good luck and have fun and be safe

Sometimes is life we need to have those "just for pleasure" relationships in order to heal and move on. This poem explains all that and lets us know the former person in you life really hurt you but still a love holds onto your heart.
