Green

Green

A Story by Michael Thrower
"

It's an opening for a story or chapter I hope to write soon. Happens after the First Scene: Grimoire. -Nyhm

"

It’s been years since I’ve felt the warm touch of life within my soul. Imprisoned in mortal flesh, decayed and rot. I pray to be set free from this hellish bind; that I may rest in peace for years to come, until the final day of this world. I grow weary with every step I walk, and every lifeless breath I take. Until my purpose is complete shall I be bound for eternity? The fire burns within me, scorching my inhuman flesh from bone. Green is the color that flows through my dead heart, it runs me, like gasoline. What has become of me is damnable to spirit and faith, but hope has yet to burn out in my weary soul. Evil consumed my flesh long ago, but goodness still rages in my heart. To end my fate and finally rest in peace I must fulfill my destiny on this accursed world; I must rid Earth of a darkness that has too long rained over: The Sword of Hades!

Author's Note

Michael Thrower
I'm thinking of making this into an actual short story or novel, comments and opinions would be great! It's a story of a boy who picks up a book of spells, well little did he know that these spells thrive off of his life. This is written after he has been consumed by the power, where as most of his flesh has rotted off or been burned away.

If you do make it a novel about this character it seems like it would be really, really dark unless there's some way he could overcome this corrupted state. Either that or he would be a pretty cool as a main side character. Anyway, even if it was dark, I would still definitely read it. Seeing the difference in him between this story and Grimoire it makes me want to know what happens in between! Afterward, too, since you have foreshadowing of a battle against that sword.

I enjoyed this read... it gave an impression of someone who is stuck in an office all day, slaving away to a mindless 9-5 job, stuck in routine and has definitely lost the zest of life. If you turn this into a novel or short story, it would be interesting to know who this person is, and how they became so...green? =)
