Midnight Prayer

Midnight Prayer

A Poem by Michael X
"

...

"
Sometimes I close my eyes
and this feeling inside me rises
and this vision of crows taking flight
explodes on the back of my eyelids.

What will happen to the love poets
when moonlight loses its glow?
I promise that I'll remember you
even as time forgets us both.

The coldest days of the year
came early and life is a struggle,
the crows that were left behind
are barely making it through
the bitter, biting cold.

But I'm surviving on thoughts of you.
I say my prayers at midnight
and God tells me to never let you go.

Gosh, so deep...lines deep in thought...the endings ties everything together...it is personal faith...and never letting go of that devotion...nicely done, Mike. :)

Very good, although not quite my cup of tea. I'd really like to see you craft some darker poems. Not necessarily violent but psychologically dark or in the Gothic Mode. You might be good at it. Then again most of my writing is dark.

They say that "absence makes the heart grow fonder." But crows can be bad omens. Here's hoping that it doesn't get too cold.

They say simplicity is next to godliness.
An your poetry is an expression of that..

I can point out so many lines in this piece that are true to this testament.

Keep writing because you're an inspiration...

Wow, thank you my friend, I appreciate your poetic insight that means so much to me!
Your poet's soul is writing prayers to the Poet Gods. Amen to that brother.

I think the times when poets and such-like were thin on the ground were collectively known as 'the dark ages' - let's pray we never go back to those times Michael.

I like that alot tony! Thank for the cool comment!
those crows...reminds me of Hitchcock's
"the birds"

the scariest part is not knowing what is going to happen...it is the impending...and yet when the crows are gone...if we have survived, it is because of love...we have kept our wits and hearts about us...and survived.

love can help us do that.
