Be The Poet

Be The Poet

A Poem by Michael X
"

"
These words aren't just simple letters,
these words are a mysterious force
because poetry has a greater meaning.

In the body temple, it's the quiet place
where faithful poets devote their souls
to unseen, telepathic, astral body muses.

It isn't the rushing of the moment
but it's the calming of time, patience
and slowing down, it is self reflection.

It's the quiet place. It's meditation.
Breath by breath. The moment writes
itself and you are the poem of life.

And when I write poetry, it feels like
the dream has come to life and
the dream is living through me.

"because poetry has a greater meaning." Indeed poetry is an art and art portray truth to me. Therefore, the poet is an artist and poetry is an indication of truth.

"to unseen, telepathic, astral body muses" The body holds the senses, thoughts, idea, and imaginings.

This stanza is my favorite, "It isn't the rushing of the moment" because poetry is a lot like a camera. You try to capture a moment, a feeling, an idea, a thought into a frame with words that does take slowing down time and self reflection.

Another one of my favorite lines, "The moment writes itself and you are the poem of life" because it's action to me in which portrays how moments come to life in poetry. I loved the follow up with the dream, though not as much as the previous lines I have to admit.

This poem reminds me of how much I love poetry and writing it. I feel a lot of the things in this poem. I also loved how it wasn't too simple, but not too complex.

Good write.

Thanks for posting! Have a great day!

Who knows where the words come from? That mysterious muse, or the endless ether? All we know is that they come, mostly unbidden, arriving when least expected because it is better if not forced. Some have come in dreams and some in nightmares.
Your description fits perfectly.
You are the poet, Michael.

Another lovely piece. This captures the essence of what it is to write. To open yourself to the great "whatever" and let the words flow out. This is one of my favorites on the site so far!

A clever write Mr X to ponder on. I feel we are all philosophers of poetry in a way sharing wisdom in words

This poem is wonderfully crafted...I must say it's a poem which evokes our spirit to write and reasons upon why we write . It also expresses the emotions, the contentness we get when we write...

i feel this...relate to it...but applaud the theme that speaks to me...that is that the poetry is bigger than all of us, it is bigger than the poet...we are but triggers to shoot the words into poems...
and the poems will live or die after that...not in our control.

Hi J, thanks man, I appreciate the wisdom and heartfelt thoughts, nicely said!
I really enjoyed reading this...So few will understand that poetry is simply life transformed and transcribed to paper and is always evolving. when the words illicit and inspire greater understanding of ourselves and our humanity. Great Job

Hey thanks for the kind words and wisdom, I appreciate your thoughts.
"The moment writes itself "....So true. Poetry is transcendental. I don't think that it can be written using intellectual faculties. Thank you for sharing this beautiful and original piece.

Hi and thank you for the kind words, it means a lot to me!
A Poet...shares their thought as art...and it scatters like flock of birds on winter horizon...white pristine sky where the azure blue is hidden in summer...the leafless trees pray to the Gods...to given as a sacrafice of LOVE.
