In the Company of Rain

In the Company of Rain

A Poem by Lost in Wonderland

Can you taste it in the air?
The storm on yonder horizon
Painting the world a grey and dismal vision.
Birds cease their flight to stare.

Shall I dance, would I dare?
My lover a rich man's son...
If I bid him, would he come?
'Tis doubtful with his many affairs.

Which leaves me to wander alone,
Enveloped by this sympathetic rain
Grieving with me as I ponder his lies.

It's watery embrace makes me feel welcome, known,
For I know no other but the birds hear my desperate cries
While I whither away in this silent pain.

Author's Note

Lost in Wonderland
My friend Abi who's a few years older than me was telling me about this poem type she was learning about in English 4. Today I got a text with the above rhyme scheme from her. So this is my attempt at a Petrarchan (which is an Italian sonnet). Hope you enjoy c:
God has the glory and may He bless you <3

Thank you for the review:)
God bless
Such a melancholy darkness moves over the heart here... the pain of loneliness... the hauntings of the rain... a heart longing for more... Beautifully rich and wondrous in the language of another time and place.

That was.. wow! I love how beautiful you described the scene.
"It's watery embrace makes me feel welcome, known,

For I know no other but the birds hear my desperate cries

While I whither away in this silent pain."
The rain always seem sad.. yet strangly comforting. Great write :D
