Something You Couldn't Do

Just about the way that love sometimes goes.

Today i read our old love letter.

You told me there was nothing you wouldn't do

To make our love last forever.

But today I realized, that isn't true.

 

You said our love would last forever

If only we met in the middle.

But love has a way of making us forget

And stumping us with its relentless riddle.

 

I've hurt you countless times

Before you wrote that letter to me.

Too many times you've tried

And now it's not meant to be.

 

When i finally understood

That I no longer could run away,

You stopped trying and believing

And wouldn't meet me half way.

 

So, I read of your sincerity

That at the time was true,

But today I came to realize

There's something you couldn't do.
