Lady Kitten and the Two Goats

Lady Kitten and the Two Goats

A Poem by Aamina, The Awkward Turtle
"

This poem was inspired by a drawing that a friend of mine made for me. It was intended to be a children’s poem, probably for children 10 years and under. I may do sequels and backstories for it.

"

Lady Kitten and Angora Goat sailed

Down a river one night

In a wooden boat with a red sail

Bathed in silver moonlight.

Said the Lady to the Sir,

‘Have you any milk, my dear Goat?’

He replied, ‘why yes I do Kitty,

Please check my leather coat.’

So she retrieved the milk

Took a swig from the bottle

Then she swallowed down the rest

So he gave her a throttle.

‘Why, you silly Kitty!’ he cried

‘How dare you do so!

You are not a true friend;

I fear you must go!’

Lady Kitten sobbed

While her heart so ached

She couldn’t separate from Angora Goat

So a sprained ankle she did fake.

Angora Goat would have none of it

He steered the boat aside

And threw Lady Kitten in the grass

Not caring if she died.

She walked in the dark while

Angora Goat sailed on into the night

And came upon a house

Glowing with warm light.

She knocked on the gnarled door

Once, twice, thrice

Then, there stood Spanish Goat

Behind him, three blind mice.

‘A room please,’ Lady Kitten asked

‘Until the morning comes.’

Spanish Goat smiled so kindly

Revealing teeth and gums.

He led her to a room

Four doors down from the stairs

And bade her good night and sweet dreams

And left her to her fears.

Lady Kitten awoke sometime later

It was still dark outside she saw

A grumble rumbled in her middle

Food she wanted more.

She stalked into the kitchen

On paws so soft and light

She heard some squeaks and pitter patter

And jumped in terrible fright.

The kitchen light was put on

She got down on her knees

And spied under the table

Three blind mice nibbling cheese.

A longing stirred inside her

They stared with eyes so bright

She snatched them altogether

And ate them up that night.

Spanish Goat awoke the next day

And found Lady Kitten on the kitchen floor

Passed out from her midnight snacking

Her fur dirtied with gore.

‘I’m so sorry, Mr. Goat!’

She cried as she woke up

‘My hunger got the best of me;

I’ll just get a mop.’

‘Worry not, my dear girl,’

He said with a dazzling smile

‘Finally those pests are gone!

My house they did defile.’

Spanish Goat was so grateful

He liked Lady Kitten so

‘Will you marry me?’ he asked

‘And forget your awful woe?’

Lady Kitten agreed at once

For she was so relieved

They married in town the very next day

Great happiness they did achieve.

Author's Note

Aamina, The Awkward Turtle
Angora and Spanish goats are actually two breeds/types of goats. I named them as such in my poem because I wasn't sure how to differentiate them as being two entirely different characters.

Hope you all get some laughs from it...it was written simply for the fun of it.
