River Styx

This a poem that I originally wrote as lyrics for a song for my band, but it sort of works as a poem too, I think. Though I'm no expert, since I have little to no experience writing poetry.

Why, is it always me? Swimming endlessly without a purpose.

Why? Can’t I live? I’m drowning without a sound in the River Styx.

That’s right, I’m drowning here! 

Never  again will I have that foolish thing called Hope.

 

From this life of torment, comes a howling lament,

Walking a shrouded path, I don’t think I will last

Use your imagination, to understand my frustration

Here comes the storm again…here comes the storm again!

Indignation, Degradation, Collapse, Subservience...

As the wave falls down on me,

My hopes and dreams cascade to the ground.

As it all falls down, you will all be drowned, it’s too late for me

Swirling all around, submissively bound, thrown from to shore to shore

Cry in exasperation, then it’s elimination

Trials and tribulations, limitless frustration

Look towards the sight, of mother nature’s might

Here comes the storm again….Here comes the storm again

 

  

Who am I? These blinded eyes?

Failure to decide.  Where shall I hide?

I’m lost at sea, no one to rescue me.

I don’t care anymore, I’ve given up.

But if I do not stand, I’ll die a worthless man.

I’m tired of dying, Each and every day!

So sick of drifting, My head is lifting.

Now I swim for the surface, to start a new life.

Throw caution to the wind

Find the courage to stand

I've had enough of this

Time to take back my life

Ride the wave, control your fate, Break apart the cycle

This is so good! Sometimes life can feel like you're drowning in despair and you captured that feeling so well!

sounds like a struggle to break free from the things that control our lives at certain points. even if im wrong (which i probably am lol) this is a very interesting way to portray the situation very creative!
