A Winter's Melody

A Winter's Melody

A Poem by Maddi
"

Based on a true experience...sort of

"

In the fading sunlight,

Crisp, cold flakes

Shimmer and shake.

A bed of icy moss,

Sits on the woodland path.

A benevolent gust plays with my scarf,

A flutter of red in the monochrome world.

Damp foliage moistens my boots and leaves

Stick to them like patches.

And here in the middle of the forest,

Where all hold their billowing breaths,

There is a piano.

How?

I do not know...

It has sat there,

Empty and alone,

Cobwebs gathered and dust like thick fur.

Until I sat there,

On a convenient tree stump.

Music calls to me,

As it always has.

I play.

Music intertwines the hesitant air -

Until it too,

Warms to the melody.

I play deep into the dark of night,

Paying no heed of the numbness of my hands

I play on and on.

On and on and on

And on and on and

On, on, on, on...

No one is there to hear it,

But I play the best,

When only the

Lonely

Moon is there.
