Who We Are

Who We Are

A Poem by Nina St. Moritz

That September day,
just like before.
No one could say
it would be so much more.

They tried to tear us,
shatter and break.
Yet deeds unjust
a stronger bond will make.

Through fire and pain,
great tragedy,
power we gain,
rise in majesty.

United we stand.
We all for one
and hand in hand.
We are the rising sun.

Our strong bravery
reaching so far.,
all we carry
has made us who we are.

Like the grand phoenix,
from ash to star,
wounds we will fix
and become who we are.

T
he red, white, and blue
take much to mar
it's standing true.
This flag is who we are.

S
tars shine through the night
against the tar,
glowing so bright.
This light is who we are.

Yes, chaos upset
our country like scars.
Never forget
what makes us who are.
