The Last Lie She Told

~Missy Lorraine~

Once upon a time a long time ago
there were two boys and a girl.
She loved the first with all her heart
but was afraid to lose such a pearl.
The second boy she told she loved
to spare his feelings then.
Boy number one believed what she said
he left not being seen again.
The second boy he moved right in
believing he had a chance.
But the girl could no longer stand
to deal with his romance.
She told him how she truly felt
though she hurt his pride
She felt much better about herself
for no longer the truth did she hide
From then on out she told the truth
and the first boy he came back
So they lived most happily
For love did they no longer lack.

Once upon a time a very long time ago,
There were two boys and a girl.
The first boy was rough and selfish,
Though he did love the girl he couldn't quite show it.
The second boy pined with desperation.

The first boy wasn't good enough,
Or so he thought.
The second boy puffed his chest and roared loud,
Desperately seeking attention.

The girl gave her affection to the second boy,
If only to quell his wailing.
The first boy respected her decision and moved on,
Giving space for the happy couple.

The girl's joy was short lived you see.
While the second boys wails were suppresses for a time,
He soon wanted more.
Nothing was ever enough and he made sure she knew.

One day the girl had enough,
Telling the second boy in detail of his inadequacies.
The boy whose ego was harmed sent the girl away,
Or so he thought.

For the twist of this tail is.......
The first boy returned!
Once a boy and now a man,
He had become selfless one may say caring.

The first boy road in with a plan.
The girl would save the second boys feelings,
Through honesty he'd tell he to leave.
And into the first boys arms she'd leap.

His own hubris his undoing,
His lacking became the first boys gain.
Though rocky at first,
The two did live happily in the end.

Time and space,
a catalyst for growth.
Time and space,
Could never keep the lovers apart.

The truth, although it may hurt some, is always the best way to go. The outcome of Happiness depends on it.

Just the other day I went back to finish them and they ended up being completely different from how I origionally invisioned them. But I think they changed for the best...You guys are wonderful!!

I like the twist in the poem and the very nice ending. Love can confuse us. Hard to regain our place again. Thank you for the excellent poem.
