The WolfA Poem by MistakenThis is a poem about feeling captured or trapped. My freedom comes with a price. My love is returned too fierce. I am a wolf who wants to run with the pack, but is restrained with a chain. Howling in silence I suffer alone. Anger courses through my veins until I only see red. I attack the chain with animosity… The effort only lands me with the tighter constriction of the collar. a pain filled whine slips through my muzzle at the suffocation being caused. A twig snaps within the surrounding forest. Tension fills the air. My shackles raise; my body tenses while a deep growl erupts from between my snarling jaws. A cloaked figure emerges from the shadows. I lower my body into a crouch. The person chuckles and dangles something from its hand. it sparkles in the air. With a jolt I realize it’s the key to the collar. I reluctantly get up from my crouch. As the person just stares…then turns. leaving me stranded here within nothing. © 2010 MistakenReviews
