Loss

Loss

A Poem by Kieran Shuttleworth
"

Normally I would only do poems in rhyme, but I just needed to let these words out, to say goodbye to this man's best friend.

"
Leaves wither and fall,
To be carried away on fateful winds,
Ere fresh buds are born anew.
Yet how can this old tree stand,
Such a heavy blow.
An axe has been taken to my roots,
A part of me is gone forever.

Wow. This is such a beautiful poem Kieran. meaningful. I understood this poem. I wrote a poem that sounds similar in a way- The Sycamore Tree. I loved it. Thank you for sharing ☺️

😊 your very welcomeand thank you for checking it out.
An axe has been taken to (my) roots,
A part of (me) is gone forever.

These two lines deviate from the assumed idea to me which threw me off right away. Perhaps there's another way of saying it if you are looking for personification? Just a thought.

Short, sad, and sweet. Impactful in its brevity.
