Ravens

A Poem by Ana B.
"

In Greek mythology, ravens are associated with Apollo, the god of prophecy. They are said to be a symbol of good luck, and were the god's messengers in the mortal world.

"

Full moon through my veins

As a cenotaph of my dreams…

So eager to adulate the names

We adopted with graceful ease.

Titles, names…has it ever mattered?

Everything must perish eventually

And if the atoms that are scattered

Have to cross the Universe

                       Inevitably

                  Affectionately

Delicately

                                                                                   Indefinitely ….

                                                     So shall it be.

And under the moonlight’s hiss

Don’t we wander in this praetorian city?

One sure thing we succeeded is

Polish our sufferings till they look pretty.

Ah, the Greeks, how I look up to all of their ideas, I love the minds they posses, only if this were that era, where philosophy reigned and mythology governed

"Polish our sufferings till they look pretty." Viciously elegant choice of words. I agree, everything does perish eventually yet we spend our whole lives avoiding it. I enjoyed your poem! Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for stopping by Daniel :)
We have all been the good the bad and the ugly in some rendition of a past life or two. We take turns being reinvented and renewed by life. What we are is life and what we want is happiness
