Tocsin

Tocsin

A Poem by Ana B.

Midnight conversations

At the edge of the sky…

Enmeshing fascinations

For my troubled, addled mind.

Amused is the ubiquity

How I accidentally survived this life

                        So far.

Cause only a true zealot of obliquity

Can relish in his crime

                                  Or justify a war…

And how I chase the stable instability

To make up for the missing link,

Eroding the body of the moribund sensibility

With every word and breath and blink.

And all along there was no missing link.

The Dark Knight with his soft lips

Awaits and whispers -‘’I’m closer than you think,

But still you get to choose your personal apocalypse’’.

Thank you, Anand :)
What an abundance of rhyming skill.. absolute clarity and vocabulary to make a linguist faint! In spite of the fine language you use, you always, always manage to hit the emotional edge. No exception here, Ana. Needless to say, the music is beautiful... as is the hint of van Gogh! Waves gently and creeps away.

Being a rhyme-aholic myself, I love your sophisticated rhymes, especially using words with "-ility" sounding endings. I can relate to your 2nd stanza quite a bit, but I'm not as clear on the overall message thru-out. I always love learning new words & had never heard of "tocsin" (I thought you meant "toxin" at first!) Well, thank you for helping me try to stretch my imagination beyond my usual limitations! *wink! wink!* Fondly, Margie

There is never a clear message with words, everyone relates in their way and read between the lines.. read more
I have no criticism (good or bad) about these words. I would compare this feeling to when I saw Apocalypse Now. It just made me think.

Spookily, (Exercise) Tocsin was also the name for the nuclear attack simulation performed by the Government of Canada. Your poetry here does creates an atmosphere of foreboding - yet creatively poignant in its powerful word format - - great write! PS the audio works brilliantly with this piece .. :-)

ha, i didn't know that. Thank you for the kind words dear Phill :)
Yes the world is ill divided in so many ways, some can make their fortune on others misery, while other more conscious and caring folk are left to ponder, how and why?

Beautifully penned with emotive human quality and compassion!
