A Poem by BlueJay

Brightly colored eggs litter the lawn
and plastic ones lie in nooks and crannies
within the house, while cheery music
plays from the kitchen radio.

Mom is making her famous
green bean casserole, and
as always, I've got a pen in
one hand. We're not a religious
family, but Easter has always
been a day just for family.

Few distractions and something
bigger than a normal weekend.

Especially now that I'm working
six days a week to mom's five,
Ash is studying more than ever,
and the boys have their own goals -
we hardly even breathe the same air.

I have to leave for work soon,
but I loved this while it lasted.
