Can't Stop

Can't Stop

A Poem by Morgan A Lynch
"

Wrote this one when i was overseas on the sandbox

"

The smell of gun powder in the air
The ground is shaking
The skies are black
We are standing in the sand
waiting , wondering, wishing
we are fighting
We don't stop for the picket signs
We keep going
We don't stop when the bullets fly
We just go faster, harder
Don't let the tears drop
Don't let the feeling escape

Don't sleep can't eat
just pick up our guns and go
The days are hot and the nights are long
We don't stop, we can't stop

Sitting in the mud with our boots on
We clean our guns
Not caring what people say we are
We just keep going

Drop, get down we are hit
you say to yourself get up shoot back
Can't but have to
They are kids we are kids

What have we done
What have we seen
Can't get it out
Have to go on
Can't stop
have to get back

Reading this makes me feel a bit guilty for not being one who is over in Iraq or Afghanistan and helping out......

What an exciting work of poetry. You placed the reader where you want them to be...right in the center of the action.

Excellent...

Very good read, you have really captured a moment in time in which I am sure many could relate with in these times. I look forward to reading much more of your works...

Morgan, this will go into my favorites. I having also worn the Unifrom of the United States Soldier can appreciate and relate to this poem. From one Soldier to another I thank you for your service and sacrifice to this great Country and for our freedom. Also for your review of American Soldier. I also have a few more soldier poems on here ( I am a soldier.) God if you can hear me) and Daddy) Take care I truly appreciate having you as one of my friends.

You really go beyond most thoughts about war and tell it from the soldier's point of view. This is incredible and full of the sadness, the feelings that are real. I guess bringing them home is something far away. Terrible and horrible and not necessary! Thank you for your excellent poem!

I was engrossed in this poem. Rarely, do I sit back and ponder on how strong our troops have had to be. I was able to open my eyes a little more to their inside pain through this poem.

i cant say that i relate to this peice but i will say that the things that are written in this are from what you tell me the truth about war. it is crazy cause this could be a place in war in some distant country or your own neighborhood tryin to fight off pple like a gang. i dont know that is what i got out of this. sorry my mind wonders!! good job sis!

I'm glad you brought this one back, Morgan. :)
I went looking in my library and notice all of my favorites were gone.

This is really good stuff. I'm adding back to my library.

Cheers!
Doc.
