Evolution?

Inspired by, and written for, the Ladder To The Sky contest.

More created than discovered

the ladder to the sky

Built by more than mortals

those greater than you and I

A vehicle of madness

or brilliance one could say

It calls to all who wonder

and it takes those same away

Could it lead to heaven

or somewhere else entire

You'll have to climb it for yourself

if you wish to truly inquire

The answer will cost you more

than you could possibly give

But without climbing the ladder

you can hardly say you've lived
