Separation

Separation

A Poem by Mr. Lopez
"

This poem is dedicated to a friend. I believe in you!

"
Even after being severed for so long...
Why is it that I can still feel it?
Long after I have lost sight ...
Why is it that I can still see it?
Years after I last ate...
Why is it that I can still taste it?
Through transenscendence from a slow calming
Winter separation
I still long for its cold embrace
Because I have eaten of the forbidden fruit
I will always hunger for its bitter sweet nectar
Although I have blinded myself of its view
I see it as a reminder of who I will never be
It would be so easy...
To eat just one more bite
It would be so easy...
To know her cold touch just one more time
It would be so easy...
To change my view for a day
But I've been given a chance to balance the books
I have come too far forward
To fall so far back
I will live forever more separated

This makes me think of friends who I love, but don't want to be a part of my life. I've moved forward and to be with them would just be backwards. But I remember the good times, almost so strongly that I cry and can really feel it. And it makes me want to have that again. But I remember that a human survival instinct is to forget. I call it a "built in forgetter". If a mother actually remembered the pain of childbirth she would never have another! But that "forgetter" only allows her to remember good stuff, like the feeling of first holding her newborn. Anyway, I have to remember that survival thing when I start thinking how good it used to be, and think about why I left it all in the past.

This is a beautiful sympathetic poem..an ode to forbidden fruit...the struggles within oneself
When dealing with addiction, I read your reply..
Anything that is forbidden is so very tempting..
I really appreciated the wording and symbolism here..
My heartfelt regards to your dear friend..
She is very fortunate and blessed to have a friend like you
A poem for her:
Two steps forward...10 steps back..
Oh...When will I ever get back on track..
When I look in the mirror ..What?..
Do I see..
I see the terror in my eyes looking back at me..
But.. when I turn around..
There is the hand of a friend..
Extended with mindfull gentilness..
To help me heal and move on from this wilderness..
I am not alone..and that is plain to see..
I have a friend...
Who BELIEVES in ME..
DEBBIE

Very nice Debbie. You are a skilled and sympathetic writer in your own right.
Separation is such a huge part of Life. Life is like a big old stew of flucking flux and Time is the big ole spoon stirring it. I felt his because I don't 'do' change as well as others seem to.
This spoke to me today. Well done Mr Lopez.
