Come On

Come On

A Poem by Mr. Lopez

Come on, save your "sorries" for someone else
Save your "I would never's" for them too
Keep your secrets in your pocket
That's how all your dreams will come true

Come on, sit beside the fire
Warm your cold heart for a spell
I know you say this feels like heaven
But in your heart you know it's hell

Come on,dance with me for just a while
Smile just like you used to do
If you look into my eyes again
You might believe your own lies too

Come on, let's try something different
Something crazy, something new
This time I won't say I love you
And you can tell me something true

Lover's lies, always the worst. This makes me think of a relationship that is just DEAD and no one is willing to leave; instead both stay and end up resenting each other. Love does die, I don't care what stories and love songs would have us believe. To lie about it just prolongs the pain for everyone.

Nicely captured Mr L, with a healthy dose of cynicism, which I prefer to call reality, offering a truth to the nonsense that our lives become, pretending we are what we are not, and getting farther away from day by day.
