The sad beginnings

The sad beginnings

A Poem by Mrudula Rani

My little girl never liked the fairytales!
With Prince Charmings, and princess in distress,
And all that happily ever after ...
Never did impress her!
She Couldn't get past,
That a little princess in fact,
Just like herself,
Lost her mother, was a grief,
in all the stories at the very beginning
All the beautiful mothers were gone.
that made my daughter heartbroken.
She wished princess had her mother,
Then good witches and good fairies
As guardians for the orphan!

Your little girl is wise and has a good heart.
Let's face it, many fairy tales are unfit stories to tell children.
Meaningful work!

It's such a telling observation . . . usually children are more self-absorbed, but clearly your daughter is outward-looking, noticing what others have, don't have, & need! This is one of the best personality traits in my book! I love the way you tell these childhood anecdotes with such childlike clarity & loving details! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Love hearing about all things in your world! *smile*
I was never impressed with fairy tales either. They all ended the same way on a happily ever after note.even at a early age in real life I knew better

I think fairytales never did impress the intellectual types... sure did scare some though!
Some fairy tales scare me even now & that's a scary thought indeed. Am inclined to agree with the old sage and my good buddy Einstein Noodle regarding some of the minor changes he referred to earlier to aid the flow...................Neville

very refreshing and unique thought..really never had thought it in such a way..though fairy tale has many gifts and pleasures at the end but for that those cruel beginning is never justified..so true.. I love it

my pleasure friend :)
I wonder how a child would write a fairytale.
Would they put the bad stuff in?
Though I suppose most fairy tales were written in cruel times.
Maybe that's why they reflect the gore.

One thousand and one Nights was the worst book I ever as a kid. I Couldn't sleep alone for ages!

And they wonder why kids grow up basket cases.

what an interesting perspective on traditional tales ...not everyone has happy endings nor beginnings ... i am a little confused by the narrator as the mother tho....maybe beginning with "this little girl...." or "Princess (so and so)...." also i think if you leave out the exclamation point in "Lost her mother, was a grief!" it would help the flow a little ...my wife died at a very young age and left four very young children ...so i am sensitive to society forgetting that some celebrations and Faerie Tales are not all happy ... unique, sensitive, creative approach to something i think is pretty important for us all to remember
