Love stories and sad songs

Love stories and sad songs

A Poem by Mrudula Rani

Love stories and sad songs with sweet melodies,
give flight to desolate thoughts.
For magic of make believe isn't only for the innocent.

Love stories and sad songs catch lonely hearts,
and drag them to the end of earth,
Stirring in an equal measure of madness and mirth
to find a Charming prince,
sends you on a journey set by writers' whims.

Love stories and sad songs encourage you to hold on to
hopeless dreams in rainbow hues.
And lets you believe only the stars and the moon hoarding
the beauty of romance,
leaves you starring at heavens.
to wish upon shooting stars,
for a perfect finish blessed by the divine.

Love stories and sad songs will never become obsolete.
As long as the writers aim to make an imprint on your spirit.

Muito obrigada.
I don't mind love poems so much. That first feeling of being in love is magical and worth writing about. It's only when it's produced ad nauseam is when my bile rises. Especially in s****y love poems written without thought, which I believe is your point. They're much better than the dark "i'm in pain, he/she doesn't love me anymore" poems that quickly get boring. This is a good write, and i'm sure I won't be the last to comment on it. Thought provoking writing is good writing. CD

My concept of love is a relationship that endures and stands test of time. We don't hear any one sin.. read more
This explains everything I feel about love poems & all the other unreal expectations we are programmed to hold about romance! You've explained things I didn't even realize how strongly I felt! I've always said I'm not a big fan of love poems & I tend to be harsh in my reviews here, when such a poem goes on & on with the typical hogwash about love & romance. Here you turn this into a song, chock full of mocking imagery to show instead of tell. Love these lines:
"Stirring in an equal measure of madness and mirth to find a Charming prince"
"And lets you believe only the stars and the moon hoarding the beauty of romance"
But even tho I don't like being led into these dumb webs, the popularity of such storylines are irresistible to most people (as you say so well in your last couplet). My sister read every one of Danielle Steele's books, which all seem to describe a repeat of this silly expectation for love! *smile* Fondly, Margie

This is a wonderful poem expressing universal thoughts on love and its established idealistic views, stereotypes and clichés.

Thank you Blakprince, it is wonderful hearing from you again.
Surely we humans, surrounded as we are by horrors etc.. need all the love stories and songs that can flow the air and swirl it happy? There is something in a riff or verse that lifts the heart and mind and sends ripples of smiles and such. Well, speaking for self - leaves bv imprint on my spirit for sure. 'Love stories and sad songs catch lonely hearts, _ and drag them to the end of earth,.. '

You've created a delightful and thoughtful poem.. love it!

Thank you very much. All the best.
Often, love stories and sad songs keep us going when we've little else to cling to.
A beautifully conveyed piece, M!

Thank you. I appreciate you reading my words, JY!
This should be made into a song, it has everything going for it.
Love always has sadness running through it.
Maybe that's the way it's always been.
