Time's poetry

Time's poetry

A Poem by Mrudula Rani

life in its length and width, a temporal existence
It is Nature’s poetry in time and space.
Each memoir with its own rhyme and reason.
In essence minutes are the syllables,
Hours are words of a life span.
Days and nights, the lines of the verses,
Weeks fittingly fall like stanzas, an octave, a sestet,
a quintet, some times it even feels like tercet.
A monostich, is a dream of minimalist!

The length of a month seems like a sonnet,
Some among the twelve stand out like ballads,
Others flow like free verse.
A few filled with repetitive emotions, villanelle they remind.
None as short as Haiku.
every dark date on the calendar sings a monody.
Getting past the pain of permanent loss
pulls mighty strength of a soul.
Clerihew like periods ease the blues of many a Monday
Some months are greeted with anticipation for they hold
joy of celebration, an ode!
Getting through a Year is nothing less than living an epic.

The above lines are true. I believe in the old way. Life for today and tomorrow will come. Tomorrow doesn't matter when this day is in the front of us. Thank you Mrudula for sharing the amazing poetry.

You are welcome my friend.
Mrudala Hi. What a wonderful analogy. You bring it to life very well and find poetic/musical equivalents for each length or unit of time. I confess there were more than a few words I didn't know, but the overall feel was really interesting and insightful. Couple of points:
1. Getting through an Year ... surely 'a year' unless you're making a point which missed me
2. I would personally delete the last line. It serves only to summarise your message, and I'd say the previous line already does that well, especially because it contains time/poem concepts in keeping with the body of the poem.

Nigel

How magnificent... maravilhosa... the various voices of poetry flowing through your words... awakening the world in their rhythms. I love the revelation, the glimpses of each poetic variant breathing over the earth's rhythms. Isso está tão profundamente em movimento. Ele vive uma vida própria de alguma forma. Linda e maravilhosa. Eu espero que sua inspiração continue fluindo como os rios selvagens do mundo ...

Ah..I indeed loved it..And its one of my favourite poem that I had ever read here...The way you compared everything is indeed worth appreciating..Actually I thought this a new fresh comparisons rather than the usual comparisons with seasons and all...Powerful use of language..

You are very kind. Thank you . Uma abraço (a hug).
To me, it would seem to require a ton of word crafting to draw such a long & detailed parallel between measurements of time & so many different aspects of poetry. I love that it’s YOU attempting this comparison becuz of the way your mind can knit & crochet a complicated blanket of possibilities! I’m very impressed with how knowledgeable you are about so many poetic forms! And I’ve seen you write using most of these forms, so your resources are well-honed, not just a point of conversation! I’m envious of your ability to pull this one off! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
